The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region. It also encompasses a hamlet to the east near the bank of the Kolpa River called Nabrežci (literally, 'on the bank'), also known as Nabreško Selo (, literally 'settlement on the bank').
