Alestes

As suggested by that name, they Alestidae was formerly included in Characidae. Myletes was a synonym of Alestes, which was used for various South American serrasalmids too but this name was suppressed by Opinion 1813 of the ICZN.

鮭脂鯉屬（學名Alestes）是鮭脂鯉科下的一屬，只分佈在非洲。鮭脂鯉屬是臼脂鯉屬（Myletes）的異名，但臼脂鯉屬此學名已不再使用。在乍得湖內，鮭脂鯉屬及狗脂鯉屬會被煙燻成一種食物。

Alestes is a genus of freshwater ray-finned fishes belonging to the family Alestidae, known as the "African Characidae" as they are found exclusively on that continent. Within the Lake Chad basin, Alestes and Hydrocynus, collectively known as salanga, are lightly smoked and dried.
