French conductor and composer (1864-1944)
Alfred Bachelet (born Paris on 26 February 1864 - died Nancy 10 February 1944 ) is a French composer, conductor and teacher. Bachelet studied at the Paris Conservatoire with Ernest Guiraud and graduated in 1890 with his cantata Cleopatra from a text Fernand Beissier the second largest Prix de Rome . He was choirmaster in 1907 conductor of the Paris Opera . In 1919, he took over from Guy Ropartz as director of the Conservatory of Nancy and remained in that position until his death in 1944. <a hr
