Alta (Samisch: Álaheadju; Fins: Alattio) is een gemeente in de Noorse provincie Troms og Finnmark. De gemeente telde 21.144 inwoners in januari 2022. Alta heeft de bijnaam "Nordlysbyen Alta" oftewel "Noorderlichtstad Alta" gekregen vanwege het feit dat de kans dat je Aurora Borealis - het Noorderlicht - hier kunt waarnemen, relatief groot is.
