Amara (auch al-'Amarah oder Amarah geschrieben; arabisch العمارة, DMG al-ʿAmāra) ist eine Stadt, die sich im Südosten vom Irak, in der Nähe des Flusses Tigris flusswärts südlich von Bagdad befindet. Die Stadt hatte im Jahre 2002 eine Bevölkerung von rund 340.000, die überwiegend aus Schiiten bestand. Es ist die administrative Hauptstadt der Provinz Maisan.
