Anne-Lise Berntsen grew up in Eggedal, a small village in the mountains of Norway. At the age of 19 she was accepted at the renowned Mozarteum in Salzburg having no musical skills other than an unusual and dramatic voice. Very soon she was being called "the young Flagstad," and an exceptionally bright future was predicted.
