Born in 1707, António Teixeira was one of Portugal's most important composers during the reign of D. João V. He was one of the several composers who studied in Rome by the protection of the portuguese monarch. During his life he composed several works, from sacred music to profane, including several operas. Among them there was his famous "Te Deum", one of his greatest and most appreciated pieces. Due to the magnitude of most of his composions he is often compared to other composers like Vivald
