Askole lies in a remote region of the Karakoram mountains above sea level. It is notable for being the final settlement before the wilderness of the high Karakorams begins. In 1996, Askole had a population of 370.

Askole o Ascole ((UR) اسکولے) è una cittadina situata nella valle di Shigar, nella parte più remota della regione Gilgit-Baltistan, in Pakistan, a circa 3000 metri di altitudine. È l'ultimo centro abitato prima del ghiacciaio Baltoro ed è noto come il più vicino centro abitato per raggiungere alcuni ottomila tra cui il K2 ed il Broad Peak.
