Aspidytidae
Sign in to saveAspidytidae is a family of aquatic beetles of the suborder Adephaga, described in 2002 from specimens in South Africa and China. There are only two known species in the family and these were originally described in the genus Aspidytes, but later the new genus Sinaspidytes was erected for the species found in China. The family can also be referred to by its trivial name cliff water beetles.

Латинское название Aspidytidae Ribera, Beutel, Balke and Vogler, 2002[1] Систематикана Викивидах Изображенияна Викискладе ITIS 678383 NCBI 183863 Aspidytidae (лат.) — семейство полуводных жесткокрылых насекомых. 2 вида. Южная Африка и Китай[1][2]. Название группы происходит от двух греческих слов: aspis — «щит» и dytes — «ныряльщик». Длина тела около 5 до 7 мм. Окраска от тёмно-коричневой до чёрной. Жуки обитают на каменистых уступах в руслах рек, около водных порогов и водопадов. Аспидитиды не имеют (в отличие от большинства плавунцов) бахромы из плавательных волосков на задних ногах и поэтом они не способны плавать, а только ползают под водой по камням [3]. Новое семейство близко Amphizoidae и разделяет признаки надсемейства Дитискоидные[4], что было поддержано изучением личиночных стадий развития[5]. Aspidytidae is a family of aquatic beetles of the suborder Adephaga, described in 2002 from specimens in South Africa and China. The family can also be referred to by its trivial name cliff water beetles.
== Description == Cliff water beetles have a streamlined body that is dorsally convex. Their size ranges from 4.8 - 7.0 mm in length. Dorsal side is predominantly black and cuticle is shiny. The head is laterally rounded and shortened with the compound eyes integrated in the outline. Legs lack swimming hairs.
