Asteryzm to części jednego gwiazdozbioru oficjalnego lub sąsiadujących ze sobą. Gwiazdy tworzące asteryzm zwykle nie są ze sobą w żaden sposób fizyczne powiązane, a ich pozorna bliskość jest jedynie wynikiem rzutowania na sferę niebieską z punktu odniesienia obserwatora na Ziemi (lub innego punktu odniesienia).
