Driven by the passion to push back the limits of our knowledge about the universe, ASTRON continuously pushes back the technological boundaries of our telescopes. This innovation in technology benefits (regional) industry and ultimately society as a whole. ASTRON has a long track record in attracting and executing EU-funded projects to develop new capabilities to support the astronomical community. ASTRON has a long-standing record and an ongoing broad program for collaboration with commercial partners. Who are the people behind the discoveries and innovations and also, who are the people that make sure that everything runs smoothly? The goal of our Open Source policy is to provide the ASTRON organisation with the guidelines that support the openness of the software developed by employees of our institute. Using the Westerbork radio telescope, astronomers have discovered two dozen of the unexplained Fast Radio Bursts and discovered their origins! 🌌 Radio signals from stars reveal magnetic storms & "space weather" on exoplanets! 🌠 These signals help us study solar bursts, auroras, and magnetic star-planet interactions. Even when our LOFAR telescope is busy getting an upgrade, it is still reaching new milestones. According to the NASA/SAO Astrophysics Data System, the overview paper ‘LOFAR: The LOw-Frequency ARray’ has reached over 2,000 citations!
