Barre [ba.ʁə] (en occitan Barre ['ba.re]) est une commune française située dans le département du Tarn, en région Occitanie. Sur le plan historique et culturel, la commune est dans le Lacaunais, un ensemble de plateaux où l'élevage de brebis laitières est prépondérant. Exposée à un climat de montagne, elle est drainée par le Viau, le ruisseau de Grelle et par divers autres petits cours d'eau. Incluse dans le parc naturel régional du Haut-Languedoc, la commune possède un patrimoine naturel remarquable composé d'une zone naturelle d'intérêt écologique, faunistique et floristique. Barre est une commune rurale qui compte 208 habitants en 2019, après avoir connu un pic de population de 1 530 habitants en 1881. Elle fait partie de l'aire d'attraction de Lacaune.
