Barry C. Barish

Barry C. Barish is an American physicist, astrophysicist, and university teacher. Born Barry Clark Barish in Omaha in 1936, he holds a Doctor of Philosophy and is educated at the University of California, Berkeley. He has worked at the California Institute of Technology and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His professional interests include experimental physics and physics.

Barish received the Nobel Prize in Physics, the Henry Draper Medal, the Princess of Asturias Award for Technical and Scientific Research, and the Enrico Fermi Prize. He is a member of the American Physical Society, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Sciences, and the Royal Society. He speaks English and is recognized in collections including those of the Royal Society, the Nobel Laureates, and the National Medal of Science.
