Bert Williams was a Bahamian-born American entertainer, one of the pre-eminent entertainers of the Vaudeville era and one of the most popular comedians for all audiences of his time. He is credited as being the first Black man to have the leading role in a film: Darktown Jubilee in 1914.

Bert Williams (November 12, 1874 – March 4, 1922) was the pre-eminent African American entertainer of his era. Williams was born Egbert Austin Williams on the island of The Bahamas, then part of the British West Indies. In 1888 his family moved to Los Angeles, California. He began his entertainment career in 1892 in San Francisco. Bert Williams became one of Vaudeville's top artists, both as a solo performer and as part of the successful double-act "Williams & Walker" with partner George Walke

Egbert Austin "Bert" Williams (Antigua, 12 novembre 1875 – 4 marzo 1922) è stato un attore e regista statunitense di teatro e cinema. È stato uno dei maggiori intrattenitori neri della propria epoca e uno degli attori comici più apprezzati dal pubblico del proprio tempo.Spesso attore in Blackface nei Minstrel show, allora molto popolari, è stato di gran lunga l'artista nero che ha venduto più incisioni su disco prima del 1920. Nella sua carriera, si trovò a lavorare anche con William Nicholas Selig, un performer e mago, che diventerà uno dei nomi di punta, qualche tempo dopo, della neonata industria cinematografica. Williams è un personaggio chiave nello sviluppo della Musica afroamericana.
