Blue Note Records ist ein Plattenlabel für Jazzmusik, das 1939 von zwei deutschen Emigranten der NS-Diktatur, Alfred Lion und Francis Wolff, in New York gegründet wurde. Sie produzierten u. a. Aufnahmen von Art Blakey, Billie Holiday, Herbie Hancock, John Coltrane, Sheila Jordan, Sonny Rollins, Wayne Shorter, Thelonious Monk und Quincy Jones. Sie verkauften die Firma 1965. Nach mehreren Eigentümerwechseln wurde das Label 1985 von Capitol Records, die den Katalog und die Namensrechte erworben hatte, neu gegründet und produzierte neue Aufnahmen. Der Name bezieht sich auf die charakteristischen „Blue Notes“ des Swings, der Jazz- und Bluesmusik.
