Après avoir pris les noms de scène The Mighty Bop, Chris the French Kiss et Reminiscence Quartet à ses débuts dans le platinisme, il adopte, en 1998, le pseudo Bob Sinclar, du nom du personnage incarné par Jean-Paul Belmondo dans le film Le Magnifique de Philippe de Broca (1973).
