Bob Wootton (March 4, 1942 - 9 April 2017) was an American guitarist. He was a guitarist for Johnny Cash for nearly thirty years. In 1968 he joined the Johnny Cash backing band, the Tennessee Three, after original lead guitarist, Luther Perkins, died in a house fire. Robert Wootton was born in 1942 in Paris, Arkansas. In 1950, he moved with his family to Taft, California, where Bob heard the music of Johnny Cash for the first time. In 1956, he bought a copy of "I Walk the Line," even though W
