Bobby è stato presentato in anteprima al 63ª Mostra internazionale d'arte cinematografica di Venezia, tra i film in concorso, per poi uscire il 23 novembre in America (il 17 novembre 2006 a New York e Los Angeles), e in Italia il 17 gennaio 2007. Il film è stato nominato a due Golden Globe per Miglior film drammatico e Miglior canzone originale.
