Bocagea

Augustin Saint-Hilaire, the French botanist who first formally described the genus, named it after Josephi Mariae de Souza du Bocage, who he said beautifully translated a poem about flowers into Portuguese and illustrated it.

Bocagea A. St.-Hil. – rodzaj roślin z rodziny flaszowcowatych (Annonaceae Juss.). Według The Plant List w obrębie tego rodzaju znajdują się 2 gatunki o nazwach zweryfikowanych i zaakceptowanych, podczas gdy aż 9 taksonów ma status gatunków niepewnych (niezweryfikowanych). Występuje naturalnie w klimacie równikowym obu Ameryk, a według niektórych źródeł występuje endemicznie w Brazylii. Gatunkiem typowym jest B. viridis A.St.-Hil.

Bocagea is a genus of plants in the family Annonaceae. It comprises four species distributed in Brazil. Augustin Saint-Hilaire, the French botanist who first formally described the genus, named it after Josephi Mariae de Souza du Bocage, who he said beautifully translated a poem about flowers into Portuguese and illustrated it.
All species of Bocagea are rare and are at least endangered.
