برایان اشمیت

Brian P. Schmidt is an American-Australian astrophysicist and astronomer born in Missoula, Montana, in 1967. He serves as a university teacher and has been employed by the Mount Stromlo Observatory, the Australian National University, and the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory. His professional interests include astrophysics, supernovae, and the universe.

Schmidt holds a Doctor of Philosophy and studied at Harvard University and the University of Arizona under doctoral advisor Robert Kirshner. He is a member of the Royal Society, the National Academy of Sciences, the Australian Academy of Science, and the International Astronomical Union. His work has earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics, the Gruber Prize in Cosmology, the Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics, and the Dirac Medal for the Advancement of Physics.
