BRICS is a group of ten countries—Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates—that work together on shared interests through an intergovernmental organization. The group emerged from the idea of identifying major emerging market economies and has grown through various informal dialogue forums since the late 1990s.
