Burt Totaro

Burt Totaro is an American mathematician, astronomer, and university teacher. His professional work focuses on algebraic geometry, topology, and Lie groups. He has served as faculty at the University of California, Los Angeles, the University of Chicago, and the University of Cambridge.

Totaro received his education at Princeton University and the University of California, Berkeley. He studied under doctoral advisor Shoshichi Kobayashi. He is a member of the Royal Society and the American Mathematical Society. His academic contributions have been recognized with the Whitehead Prize and election as a Fellow of the Royal Society. He speaks English.
