Originally produced by ABC Weekend Television and later Thames Television, it was aired on the ITV network over four seasons spread out between 1967 and 1972. The series starred Edward Woodward as David Callan, a reluctant professional killer for a shadowy branch of the British Government's intelligence services known as 'the Section'.

Callan è una serie televisiva britannica in 43 episodi trasmessi per la prima volta nel corso di 4 stagioni dal 1967 al 1972. Callan è uno spin-off originato da un episodio della serie antologica , andato in onda nel 1967 e intitolato A Magnum for Schneider. Due film furono prodotti come seguiti della serie: uno pubblicato nel 1974 con il titolo omonimo (uscito in Italia come ), l'altro nel 1981 con il titolo (un film per la TV), entrambi con lo stesso attore come protagonista.
