Castro es una ciudad de la zona sur de Chile, ubicada en el archipiélago de Chiloé, Región de Los Lagos, es la tercera urbe más antigua de Chile con existencia continuada, siendo fundada en febrero de 1567 por el mariscal Martín Ruiz de Gamboa bajo el nombre de «Santiago de Castro». Es capital de la comuna del mismo nombre y de la provincia de Chiloé. Según el censo nacional realizado en el año 2017, Castro tiene una población de 33 417 habitantes.
