قلب الدفاع، ويعرف هذا النوع أيضا بالـ«هاف باك» أو الـ«سنتر هاف» (والمصطلحان اختصار للاسم الأصلي بالإنجليزية وهو «سنتر هاف باك»). وتكون أساس مهمتهم هي التصدي لمهاجمي الفريق المنافس وقطع الإمداد لهم من خط الوسط طوال المباراة.
