Chitlapakkam is a residential locality located in Chennai Metropolitan Area governed by the Tambaram City Municipal Corporation. It is well known for its small, perennial lake and adjoining ecosystems.
== Overview == Chitlapakkam is a fast-developing area, located about 7 km south from the Chennai International Airport. Its area is 2.95 km2 and population density is 8,581 per square kilometers (as of 2001). The neighbourhood is served by Tambaram Sanatorium railway station, which is 100 m from the locality and 200 meters from Chitlapakkam lake and govt school. Major suburbs neighbouring areas include Pallavaram, Chromepet, Selaiyur, Tambaram Sanatorium, and Tambaram.
