Christian Thomasius

Christian Thomasius (1655–1728) was a male jurist, philosopher, university teacher, and journalist from the Electorate of Saxony. Born in Leipzig and dying in Halle (Saale), he held a doctorate and spoke Latin. His academic career included teaching at Leipzig University, the University of Frankfurt an der Oder, and Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. He was educated at Leipzig University and the University of Frankfurt an der Oder, studying under Valentin Alberti and his father, Jakob Thomasius.

Thomasius is associated with works such as *Theses Inaugurales*, *De Crimine Magiae*, *De Iure Circa Somnum et Somnia*, *De Crimine Bigamiae*, and *Fundamenta Iuris Naturae et Gentium*. His writings are archived at the Royal Danish Library and the Herzog August Library. He taught students including Andreas Rüdiger and Nicolaus Hieronymus Gundling.
