Christine Burns is an Equality and Diversity specialist who was born close to London's East End and who made a home in the North West when she went to Manchester University in the early 1970's. She made her name for the extensive work she did in support of the trans rights campaign, as a vice president of the British lobby organisation Press for Change, and was awarded an MBE for that work in the Queen's New Year's Honours list in 2004.
