Met clearing worden alle activiteiten aangeduid die optreden tussen het aangaan van een financiële transactie en de uiteindelijke verwerking daarvan (settlement). Samen spreekt men van clearing en settlement. Clearing wordt gebruikt voor verschillende soorten transacties.
