In biology, co-adaptation is the process by which two or more species, genes or phenotypic traits undergo adaptation as a pair or group. Co-adaptation and coevolution, although similar in process, are not the same; co-adaptation refers to the interactions between two units, whereas co-evolution refers to their evolutionary history. Co-adaptation and its examples are often seen as evidence for co-evolution.
