==Families== This superfamily includes the following three families: Chlorogomphidae Needham, 1903 Cordulegastridae Hagen, 1875 Neopetaliidae Tillyard & Fraser, 1940 The oldest known fossil members of Cordulegastroidea are the family Mesochlorogomphidae (containing Mesochlorogomphus & Hispanochlorogomphus) from the Barremian of England & Spain, and the family Araripechlorogomphidae (containing only Araripechlorogomphus) from the late Aptian of Brazil, which are thought to be related to the Chlorogomphidae. The Hemeroscopidae Pritykina, 1977 from the Late Jurassic and Cretaceous may belong to this group as well.
