La cornetta è uno strumento simile alla tromba. Non deve essere confuso con il medievale cornetto. Strumento standard nella banda, derivante dalla famiglia della chiarina. In questo ruolo è comunque sempre più sostituita dalla tromba, preferita anche in orchestra o dai solisti.
