La coronographie est une technique en astronomie qui consiste à reproduire le phénomène céleste des éclipses totales. Le coronographe permet en effet de masquer la partie centrale de l'étoile. Ainsi, seule la couronne de l'étoile observée apparaît, car elle n'est plus « noyée » par la lumière de la photosphère (le disque stellaire) : l'instrument n'est pas ébloui.
