De westafrikaanse klepschildpadden (Cycloderma) zijn een geslacht van schildpadden uit de familie weekschildpadden (Trionychidae). De groep werd voor het eerst wetenschappelijk beschreven door Wilhelm Peters in 1854. De geslachtsaanduiding Cycloderma betekent vrij vertaald 'cirkelhuid' en is een samenstelling van Oudgrieks κύκλος, kuklos = cirkel en δέρμα, derma = huid.
