Daniel Aaron

Daniel Aaron (1912–2016) was an American literary scholar, writer, and university teacher. He held academic positions at Harvard University and Smith College. His fields of work included literary studies, pedagogy, and literature. Aaron was educated at the University of Michigan and Harvard University. He spoke English.

His notable works include *Buying the Farm*, *America in Crisis 14 Crucial Episodes In*, *Art of Spiritual Leadership*, and *Writers on the left*. He also selected, edited, and wrote an introduction for *PAUL ELMER MORE'S SHELBURNE ESSAYS ON AMERICAN LITERATURE*. Aaron was a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the American Council of Learned Societies.

He received the Guggenheim Fellowship and the National Humanities Medal. He was also a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Aaron died of pneumonia in Cambridge on April 30, 2016. His death was caused by natural causes.
