Devo

Also known as DEV-O, Dove, The De-Evolution Band

Devo is an American new wave band from Akron, Ohio, formed in 1973. Their classic line-up consisted of two sets of brothers, the Mothersbaughs (Mark and Bob) and the Casales (Gerald and Bob), along with Alan Myers. The band had a No. 14 Billboard chart hit in 1980 with the single "Whip It", the song that gave the band mainstream popularity.

Devo – amerykański zespół muzyczny powstały w 1972 w Akron w stanie Ohio. Trudny do jednoznacznego sklasyfikowania gatunkowego. Jeśli historia coverów muzycznych doczeka się własnej monografii, to utwór "(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction" (przebój zespołu The Rolling Stones) zostanie tam wymieniony jako jeden z oryginalniejszych. Utwór ten pochodzi z ich debiutanckiej płyty wydanej w 1978 roku, a nagrywanej pod okiem legendy muzyki rockowej – Briana Eno. Za największy przebój grupy uchodzi natomiast utwór "Whip It" z płyty Freedom of Choice (nr 14 na liście Billboard Hot 100). Nagrali też własną wersję piosenki Jimiego Hendrixa – – wydaną na albumie Shout jak i na singlu.
