Devon Conway is unlikely to be available for the entire season of the Indian Premier League 2024, and has been ruled out till May. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been struck a big blow ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024, as opener Devon Conway is expected to miss at least the first half of the season after undergoing surgery on his fractured left thumb. Conway has been a standout performer for the franchise since signing in 2022. He played seven games in the first season, collecting 252 runs at an average of 42, then nearly tripled that total in 14 games in 2023, scoring 672 runs at 51.69 in the title chase. There is a chance that the defending champions might look for a replacement player for Conway out of the list of unsold ones in the IPL 2024 auction. The left-hander has played only one match in the IPL, for Punjab Kings in IPL 2021, and scored 26 runs. Despite his phenomenal T20 record, Malan has not been a favourite of IPL franchises. However, CSK is known to pick players who, others don’t value and Malan could be a perfect replacement for southpaw Devon Conway. Left-handed Malan is perfect against the pacers and has apt technique against spin, especially with 7 matches to be played at Chepauk.
