Devşirme (دوشيرمه), in het Grieks, παιδομάζωμα (paedomazoma) vertaald: "ophalen van kinderen"; in het Roemeens tribut de sânge; Servo-Kroatisch danak u krvi en Bulgaars кръвен данък (kraven danak) vertaald: "bloed belasting", was in het Osmaanse Rijk het systeem waarbij in veroverde christelijke gebieden jongens werden geronseld om als slaven dienst te doen in het leger of in de administratie van de sultan. Het was christenen verboden om wapens te dragen, daarom was het voor de Janitsaren noodzakelijk dat ze moslim waren. De geronselde jongens kregen een goede opleiding en het grootste deel van de elite (waaronder de Janitsaren) van het Ottomaanse Rijk bestond uit ooit door de devşirme gerekruteerde personen. De jongens werden genoemd.
