Diane Duane (b. May 18, 1952) is a science fiction and fantasy author best known for her Young Wizards series. So You Want to be a Wizard, the first book in the young adult series, was published in 1983. There are eight total books in the series with a ninth, A Wizard on Mars, set for publication in autumn 2008. Duane also authored a series about cats set in the same wizarding universe, the Rihannsu Star Trek novels and the 'Door into...' series, among other works. She lives in County Wicklow, I
