The topic of transparency has not only long dominated the entire European energy market, it is also reaching a broader public through debates in politics and society. RWE power plants generate significant quantities of energy mainly in Germany, the Netherlands, in the United Kingdom and in the USA. With the launch of the transparency offensive in 2007, RWE was considered a leading pioneer in the European Union in proactively disclosing comprehensive information on generation. Since 2011, the EU has made it mandatory for all power plant operators to provide the public with information on the status of current electricity generation in detail and as quickly as possible. In addition, companies must report incidents in power plants that lead to reduced output or outages.
