Die Stadt Diez ist ein staatlich anerkanntes Heilbad und eine ehemalige Residenzstadt an der Lahn im Rhein-Lahn-Kreis im Land Rheinland-Pfalz. Sie ist Verwaltungssitz der gleichnamigen Verbandsgemeinde. Diez erfüllt nach rheinland-pfälzischer Landesplanung die Funktion eines Mittelzentrums und bildet zusammen mit der unmittelbar angrenzenden, hessischen Stadt Limburg an der Lahn ein länderübergreifendes Doppelzentrum mit rund 47.000 Einwohnern.
