Dourbies est une commune française située dans l'ouest du département du Gard, en région Occitanie. Exposée à un climat de montagne, elle est drainée par la Dourbie, le Trèvezel, le Crouzoulous, le ruisseau de Pueylong, le ruisseau du Lingas et par divers autres petits cours d'eau. Incluse dans les Cévennes, la commune possède un patrimoine naturel remarquable : trois sites Natura 2000 (Les « gorges de la Dourbie et causses avoisinants », le « massif de l'Aigoual et du Lingas » et « les Cévennes »), un espace protégé (le « Peyrebesse ») et cinq zones naturelles d'intérêt écologique, faunistique et floristique. Dourbies est une commune rurale qui compte 139 habitants en 2019, après avoir connu un pic de population de 1 121 habitants en 1886. Ses habitants sont appelés les Dourbiens ou Dourbiennes.
