365dayspact.wordpress.com →If you are stressed, it is because you have too many things going on in your life that are draining you out physically and mentally. Stress is an inevitable part of our lives. But here’s the thing – the more we identify ourselves with our stress, the more room we make for it to stay. Apart from the mental side-effects that we all are aware of, stress also affects our physical well being – headaches, backaches, muscle cramps, etc. Today’s Asana (my favorite one) will help you calm your nervous system and release stress from your legs, hips, spine and shoulders. 1. Stand straight and slowly bend your upper body forward. 2. Place your palms flat on the ground. Make sure you are comfortable in this position. You can bend your knees if required. 3. Slowly take your right leg back and then your left leg back. Make sure the distance between both your feet is in proportion to the distance between both your palms. 4. Bend your right knee while not letting your toes off the ground. Slowly straighten your right knee to push your heel to the ground. Repeat the same motion with your left knee and heel. 5. Spread your palms and press them flat on the ground. Keep your shoulders firm. Take a deep breath and with an exhale turn your head to look at your navel. 6. Extend the length of your spine by pushing your hip slightly up while keeping your heels pressed on the ground. 7. Stay in this pose for 6 long breaths. 8. Slowly bend your knees, place them on the ground, rest your hips on your heels, extend your arms and touch your forehead to the ground. Relieves stress and anxiety, insomnia. Stretches the shoulders, hamstrings, calves, back. Helps relieve menstrual cramps. Improves digestion. Prevents osteoporosis. Anyone suffering from chronic headaches, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or high blood pressure. Feel free to leave your questions or suggestions in the comments section below.
