エドワード・エヴァレット

Edward Everett (1794–1865) was an American politician, diplomat, university teacher, and writer. Born in Dorchester, he died in Boston and is buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery. He served as a member of the United States House of Representatives, Governor of Massachusetts, United States Secretary of State, and ambassador. His political affiliations included the Whig Party and the Republican Party.

Everett was educated at Phillips Exeter Academy, Harvard University, and the University of Göttingen. He worked at Harvard University and in Washington, D.C. A Unitarian, he was a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Antiquarian Society, and the American Philosophical Society. He spoke English and had a child named William Everett. His relatives included Susan Hale and Edward Everett Hale.
