Edwin Landseer

Edwin Henry Landseer was a British painter, sculptor, architectural draftsperson, and etcher born in London in 1802. He was a member of the Royal Academy of Arts, where he was also educated. His professional work was centered in London, and he is recognized for his contributions to landscape painting, animal art, and portraiture.

His notable works include the paintings *Monarch of the Glen* and *A Distinguished Member of the Humane Society*. Landseer’s artistic output was documented by sources such as the *Encyclopædia Britannica* 11th edition and the *Web Gallery of Art*. He died in London in 1873 and was buried at St Paul's Cathedral. He was the sibling of Thomas, Jessica, and Charles Landseer.
