L'isola d'Elba è un'isola situata tra il canale di Piombino a est, a circa 10 chilometri dalla costa, il mar Tirreno a sud e il canale di Corsica a ovest. È la più grande delle isole dell'arcipelago toscano e la terza più grande d'Italia (223 km²). L'Elba, assieme alle altre isole dell'arcipelago (Pianosa, Capraia, Gorgona, Montecristo, Giglio e Giannutri), fa parte del Parco nazionale dell'Arcipelago Toscano.Amministrativamente è suddivisa in 7 comuni facenti parte della provincia di Livorno.
