==Geography== Essert-sous-Champvent is located in a small valley between Chamblon hill and the foothills of the Jura Mountains. The Brinaz river flows through it. , the former municipality had an area of . Of this area, or 70.2% is used for agricultural purposes, while or 19.8% is forested. Of the rest of the land, or 11.6% is settled (buildings or roads).
