docs.oracle.com →The Java Tutorials have been written for JDK 8. Examples and practices described in this page don't take advantage of improvements introduced in later releases and might use technology no longer available. See Dev.java for updated tutorials taking advantage of the latest releases. See Java Language Changes for a summary of updated language features in Java SE 9 and subsequent releases. See JDK Release Notes for information about new features, enhancements, and removed or deprecated options for all JDK releases. The Java programming language uses exceptions to handle errors and other exceptional events. This lesson describes when and how to use exceptions. This section covers how to catch and handle exceptions. The discussion includes the try, catch, and finally blocks, as well as chained exceptions and logging. This section covers the throw statement and the Throwable class and its subclasses. This section explains the correct and incorrect use of the unchecked exceptions indicated by subclasses of RuntimeException . The use of exceptions to manage errors has some advantages over traditional error-management techniques. You'll learn more in this section.
