Die Exosphäre (von griechisch ἔξω [éxo] ‚außen, außerhalb‘ und σφαίρα [sphaĩra] ‚Kugel‘) stellt die äußerste Schicht der Erdatmosphäre dar. Sie markiert den fließenden Übergang zum interplanetaren Raum, ist jedoch nach Definition von NASA und Fédération Aéronautique Internationale bereits dessen Teil. Die Exosphäre schließt an die Thermosphäre an und beginnt damit (nach unterschiedlichen Quellenangaben) etwa in einer Höhe zwischen 400 km und 1000 km. Ihre äußere Grenze wird mit etwa 10 000 km angegeben. Allerdings ist die Grenze nicht genau definiert, weil die Gasdichte kontinuierlich abnimmt und theoretisch nie den Wert null erreicht.
