AI overview

The fibula is the smaller of the two bones in your lower leg, running along the outer side of the tibia (shinbone) and connected to it at the top and bottom. While it's a slender bone that doesn't bear as much weight as the tibia, it plays an important structural role by providing attachment points for muscles and ligaments that support the leg and ankle.
